WHAT IS LIVE RESIN?
Everyone has heard of “live resin” products, but what does that really mean? What makes it different and how does it define your experience?
In its simplest breakdown, live resin products extract the living elements in flower that contribute to aroma, flavor and effects. The final product is a concentrated form of cannabis.
With live resin, the plant is flash frozen immediately following harvest and kept at freezing temperatures throughout the extraction process. By doing this, the cannabis plant retains its original terpene profile. The end result is an extracted version of the flower you normally roll up, minus the physical plant itself. Extracts come in many different forms – terms like shatter, badder, crumble, and sugar refer to a concentrate’s texture and consistency.
The distinguishing factor that separates live resins from other concentrate products is the elevated terpene content. A live resin extract carries a more robust terpene concentration than traditional cured resin extracts. It showcases a mix of authentic flavors and aromas because of its complex terpene profile.
HOW TO CONSUME LIVE RESIN BADDER
For those new to extracts, it can seem intimidating to try extracts for the first time. You see the rig, the torch and all the tools and run for hills if you’re not about that life. However with the evolution of the cannabis industry, companies have created new user-friendly tools for customers to experience extracts at all levels.
THE BEGINNER. New to the scene? Our team recommends picking up a Puffco Peak or Puffco Plus. The Peak is a portable rig while the Plus is a pen similar to vape pens. Each have different heat levels – low, medium and high – to determine the density of the dab. Puffco touts their products as offering the “most efficient and enjoyable experience, faster and easier than ever before, with no learning curve” and we couldn’t agree more.
Pros: Extremely portable, dope design, found at most dispensaries, easy to navigate and intuitive
Cons: Price tag of initial investment
THE AVID DABBER. Concentrates culture is real. Like many glass pieces at head shops, dab rigs can range in cost from $50 to the thousands depending on your desire for glass artistry and quality. Looking for something more headier and know the best temperature for your dab? A rig is the way to go for you.
Pros: Customizable heating for optimal dab temperatures, more selection of rigs
Cons: Learning curve, requires additional tools, longer process
